INVITATION TO COMPOSERS

The London Schubert Players invites composers of any age and nationality to write short works for specific chamber music combinations which are very rare in the standard classical music repertoire of the last two centuries. Any number of inspiring and well written works to enhance this repertoire will be selected by the LSP with the following aims:

  • To perform them in concerts in 2008 – 2009 alongside their models composed by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and Messiaen.
  • To record them for RMA record company in London on CDs accompanied by booklets containing interviews with the composers about their life and work
  • To get them published by the Constantin Silvestri International Foundation
  • To perform and discuss them in international workshops in England, Romania and other selected European countries, bringing together the composers, performers and their audiences.

The first Silvestri Composition Prize will be awarded to a selected work by the Constantin Silvestri International Foundation (£500)
