The Rheindahlen Organ

ST. BONIFACE C. OF E. CHURCH, RHEINDAHLEN BFPO 40.

Rushworth & Dreaper Ltd., commissioned by the Ministry of Defence, have designed and built a new two manual and Pedal pipe organ for the C. of E. Church of St. Boniface at the N.A.T.O. Headquarters at Rheindahlen.

The recently installed instrument stands in divided form either side of the west window in the balcony. The detached drawstop console is located in the Chancel behind the Choir stalls.

The instrument is manufactured from the highest quality materials throughout and is built to withstand rigorous changes in climatic conditions which prevail in this particular church.

The casework of both console and organ is finished in natural oak with American ash moulding on the panels.

The specification of the organ was drawn up by the Crown Suppliers through whom the contract was awarded. The tone is full, clear and bright.

The action throughout is by Solid State Logic Ltd., with Diode Coupling System and Multi-level Capture system.

In particular the Crown Suppliers requested that the instrument be designed and built to suit the peculiar needs of such a church based in a Forces establishment where the majority of use to which the organ is put is concerned with worship and ceremonial services.

The order from the Church Authorities was that the organ be located specifically either side of the all important light giving window in the gallery. Because of the musical requirements within the church the console is detached, in the form described, in the chancel.
